An innovative service that brings more safety to the patient. Vitória Apart Hospital is the first private hospital in Espírito Santo to offer its own emergency rescue service, VAH Urgente.

The service is available at no additional cost to users of various health plans and can be requested by phone in cases of emergencies, highlighting cardiac, neurological, respiratory and falls in closed places, such as home, hotels and therapeutic residences.

“The ambulance is classified as Advanced, that is, in addition to the rescuer, there is always a doctor and a nurse to perform the service. Every service goes to a doctor. The service is 24 hours a day, free of charge for patients who have health insurance plans at the Vitória Apart emergency room”explained the hospital’s medical director, Mayke Armani.

According to the director, the demand for the rescue service arose from an assessment of the epidemiological profile of patients who arrived at the hospital emergency. “Many patients were arriving at the hospital late, with an increased risk of sequelae and death,” he said. Faced with this scenario, the idea of developing a removal itself was born.

In addition to the agility in the service, the structure that the patient finds when arriving at the hospital makes all the difference in the treatment.

“The first point is to bring the patient as quickly as possible to the place that has the best resource, and our emergency room has the main resources for the care of critically ill patients”highlighted the medical director of the hospital.

In addition to the ambulance, the hospital has a cardiology, neurology, vascular surgery and neurosurgery team. A well-equipped emergency room with clinicians, gynecologists, surgeons and pediatricians.

“The first service we manage to develop very well”, he said. If necessary, there is still the possibility of having an even more complete structure.

“The patient, needing a back-up structure, such as state-of-the-art hemodynamics for quick interventions, imaging, whether tomography or resonance, or even the Coronary Unit and General ICU, we have everything in the same place”.

Complete structure for high complexity emergency care. This is what patients find at Vitória Apart Hospital, in Serra.

“We have highly trained clinical neurologists and neurosurgeons, with medical and postgraduate training in several centers around the world”said the neurosurgeon and therapeutic neuroradiologist, Leandro de Assis Barbosa.

But, in addition to a good team, agility is essential. “The faster the patient gets to the hospital, the greater the chance of recovery. Stroke patients, for example, must be taken to hospitals with a quick response capacity, with a team available 24 hours and seven days a week, as is the case of Vitória Apart”he explained.

The neurosurgeon also said that in the hospital, in addition to the highly trained team, patients can count on hemodynamics, a modern equipment capable of treating all cerebrovascular, cardiac and vascular diseases.

How to identify a stroke

To assist in quick relief in cases of Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA), it is necessary to know how to identify the signs of the problem. See the guidelines of the neurosurgeon of Vitória Apart Leandro de Assis.

  1. Ask the person to smile: If the smile is crooked or if the mouth is crooked to one side, it could be a sign of a stroke.
  2. Ask the person to raise their arm: If it is difficult to lift or if one of the arms, after being raised, falls, this could be a sign of a stroke.
  3. Ask the person to repeat a sentence: If they cannot understand or repeat it, it could be a sign of a stroke.
  4. Activate the emergency rescue of Vitória Apart Hospital. To do this, just call 3348-5333.
