I’m not the person for aesthetic procedures, nor the most common, like botox application. Two things terrify me: needles and the fact that, who knows, the result doesn’t turn out as expected and then, well, you never know if it’s possible to get back to “normal”. Therefore, when the reshape method invited CLAUDIA to test the procedure, my relief was to discover that they promise liposuction results without surgery. It is worth emphasizing that I have never had a lipo to use it as a comparison, but I found the proposal interesting and committed myself to the four sessions.
Everything happened with a certain spacing, due to the always busy schedule. The ideal, however, is to do it in a regulated sequence of days and times. I made my first appointment at a clinic that applies the method — in São Paulo, are some addresses with specialists. On the Uber there, a mixture of anxiety and curiosity made my head spin a few times. — imagine if it was with anesthesia, needles etc? (Nothing against it, by the way, just not for me). I was warmly received by the staff and the steps of what would happen in the next hour were explained to me.
First, they take their measurements (of course!) to see where we would start. I chose to apply Reshape on the abdomen because it is the most requested by clients, but it can be done on the flanks, glutes, culottes, thighs, arms, back and chest, phew!. After that, just lie on the stretcher with the air of a massage room, expose the body part to the professional and let the magic happen through her hands. The 60 minutes are divided into three stages of 20 minutes each. The first, and most uncomfortable for me, is the ultrasound: made with the Heccus, an aesthetic device that combines electrical currents of different frequencies, it serves to break down the body’s fat cells. The sensation it caused me was a very fine sandpaper passing over the skin, covered in a very cold gel.
The second and third steps were made with the same structure of self-adhesive electrodes, glued to the front and sides of the trunk. Mechanical drainage, which happens first, is responsible for draining fat into the bloodstream. Soon after, the “choquinhos” become more acute to do muscle strengthening. As there were four sessions, the intensity of each stage evolved from one to the other. I have a lot of sensitivity, so I found the last sessions very painful and uncomfortable. It was the urge to pee and the hunger they gave me afterwards.
Estheticians recommend doing physical exercise (especially aerobic) within 24 hours to ensure maximum effectiveness. I didn’t always manage to do it, due to my unpredictable schedules, but even so, I felt a difference in my body. In the first session, I reduced 9 cm by adding chest, waist and hips. In the second, the chest measurement had returned to the initial number, but the others remained unchanged, and then it was reduced by another 10 cm. In the third, as I was in the premenstrual period, the swollen body proved to be a reality (I already knew that, but seeing in numbers is another thing), but it was another 6 cm. Finally, with the numbers already half stabilized, some even smaller, another 4 cm.
During the sessions, I was talking to the beautician (cute and super competent) who applied the method to me to understand a little about the audience, the needs and the details of each stage. I found that men are the majority in clinics and wedding parties or social events are the main reasons for looking for Reshape, precisely because of the immediate effect it causes. And also because you can do the procedure up to three times a week. The schedule is very busy, even more so now in the second semester, she told me, because of the famous “summer project”.
Important notes: 1) you should only perform any procedure, even if not invasive, if you are 100% willing and not because of aesthetic pressure from anyone; 2) Reshape, at least in my understanding, is something to be used as an extra tool in body care, not the only source of toning or reducing measures: regular physical activities and healthy eating come before anything else, OK?; 3) it is contraindicated for people with cancer, pacemaker, diabetes and cholesterol, and pregnancy.
Oh! I was, yes, happy with the result, but I never used (and won’t use) a tape measure to check my measurements again because I think this is super dangerous in my experience with self-image. Anyway, I found it surprising.
